March 2013…
Exceptional Care is founded.
May 2014…
First registration of Beech House, a small two bedded children’s home in Sefton with 6 employees.
December 2014…
Our second registration, Oak House, a four bedded children’s home in Sefton.
June 2015…
We successfully gained registration for Cherry House a three bedded home in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
March 2017…
We decided to relocate one of our small homes and transition the young people into a bigger home, which we named Maple House, located in a rural setting.
May 2017…
Opening of Sapphire House, our Post 16 service, based in Skelmersdale.
May 2018…
Opening of sister company, Sky Recruitment
We launched Shrewsbury – 28 day crisis barge high activity service.
September 2018…

Meet The Team
Susan Rolfe
Susan Rolfe
Responsible Individual
Susan started with Exceptional Care in May 2017, initially beginning her journey as the Service manager for the Organisation and then in May 2018 became the Responsible Individual for the company.
Susan is an experienced and passionate professional in the Children’s Services sector encompassing 9 years at Operational Leadership Level for Looked After Children’s residential/resources, for Manchester City Council.
Susan’s possesses a leadership style that is solution focused, with drive and motivation around supporting and developing change within the field of provision for children.
Susan’s career journey has been within the charity-based sector of Children’s residential, before going into local authority work and then into the independent sector of children’s residential provision.
Susan has brought her enthusiasm and passion to Exceptional Care and her underlining principles of “children and young people matter and should feel that the service provided is their home.

Sean Milnes
Sean Milnes
Head of Residential Services & Responsible Individual
Sean started with Exceptional care in January 2021. He started his career in the care sector in 2003 as a support worker with children and young people with complex health needs, disabilities and challenging behaviour. He has worked in a variety of settings with both children and adults as a Registered Manager, Senior Manager, Service Manager and Regional Operations Manager.
Sean brings a wealth of experience to the role at Exceptional Care from working with different levels of need from tier 4 step down from secure, ASD, attachment and EBD.
Sean is an experienced Senior Manager and is an extremely passionate professional in the care sector and bring a leadership style that is ‘child focussed’ and outcome based.
Sean has great ethos and is driven about making a difference and working with others to achieve this.

Jamie Lee
Business Development Manager
Jamie Lee has a BA (hons) Degree in Children and Young People with Criminology and my DiplomaLevel 5 Leadership and Management in Children and Young People’s Residential Settings.
Whilst studying for her degree she began her career in children’s residential, working for a healthcare recruitment agency part time, with in this time she gained experience working in various different settings supporting children and young people form complex back grounds including residential home’s, crisis intervention centres, schools and semi-independent homes.
In 2014 she joined Exceptional Care as a children’s residential support worker and was quickly promoted to the home’s senior. In 2017 she was promoted to deputy manager where she studied for her Diploma level 5 Leadership and management. Since completing her Level 5 along with following her career development plan implemented by Exceptional Care’s upper management, she has gained the skills to identify and manage children and young people’s needs and risk’s, communication with young people, their family and professional’s involved in their care, ensuring and promoting good practice within the home and throughout the service and good knowledge of Ofsted Framework for Children’s Homes to ensure quality care is delivered.
Her current role is Referrals manager, part of her role is the assessment and co-ordination of placements within our children’s residential homes. It is extremely important to Jamie and Exceptional Care to ensure each individual young person who comes in to our care is placed in an environment where they feel safe and secure as this will provide them with the opportunity to develop positive healthy relationships, make changes in their life and achieve outcomes and prepare them for independent living and transition into adulthood. She is very dedicated to her role and understands the importance of ensuring that we are the right placement for each young person and only offer placements to young people who are compatible with our homes location, current young people living in the home and that we believe we can meet the young person’s needs and manage their risks

Registered Manager
Tim joined Exceptional Care in July 2019, he has 30years experience in a variety of health & social care settings, which includes over 20yrs managerial experience in local authority, voluntary and private sector providers of both adults and children’s services.
Tim has a background in mental health services, training and development before becoming a manager in children’s services.
Tim is extremely passionate about the home and is a strong advocate for children and young people.
Nicola Oylott

Registered Manager
Nicola has been with Exceptional Care since September 2017 and comes to Oak House from our crisis services and has worked in Residential childcare settings for 13 years. Nicola has a Diploma level 3 in children and young people health and social care and also has her Level 5 Diploma inLeadership and Management in children services.
Nicola brings a wealth of experience having worker in a variety of different settings within children’s services that includes secure units, crisis placements, respite services as well as residential care, six of these years has been as a deputy manager/team leader
Natalie Johnson
Natalie Johnson
Natalie is a dedicated professional with over twenty years’ experience working with children and young people. Natalie has attained the Level 5 Managers Award and has qualifications in Prevent, Child Protection, Safeguarding, FGM, CSE and gender identity training and has delivered nine-week long training sessions created by the NSPCC that covers child protection, safeguarding, person centeredness and managing crisis situations whilst being a ChildLine Child Protection Counsellor.
Natalie has held many roles in childcare and is a proven Registered Manager, having held Ofsted Registration for young people with EBD and challenging behaviour. Natalie has experience in supporting other Registered Managers and has significant leadership and management experience where she has proven coaching and mentoring skills that she has used to drive up quality in her teams.
Natalie has worked to improve services and has experience in leading a team to reflect and achieve improved ratings for the benefit of the children and young people living in the home.
Natalie has previously been a Child Protection Supervisor and has spent her own time volunteering and working for ChildLine as she believes in the importance of helping children in need. This work was on the front line of support answering calls from distressed and frightened children and helping them by directing resources and support where appropriate. This has helped shape Natalie’s skills in de-escalation, managing conflict and has given her a keen eye for supporting children and young people to recognise risks and to help keep them safe.
Natalie is actively engaged in fundraising, having walked the Great Wall of China and has raised in excess of £40,000 for ChildLine.
Hayley Bell
Hayley Bell
Hayley joined Exceptional Care in July 2016, starting off as a support worker and as a result of personal development programme offered by Exceptional Care has progressed through the roles of residential support worker, team leader, deputy manager to now aRegistered manager at CherryHouse.
Prior to Exceptional Care, Hayley has 10 years’ experience providing direct support to children and young people in a youth worker role and also as a family support worker. She holds a BA hons degree in Sociology and Social policy, focusing upon the experience of young people within society and is currently enrolled on Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management

Chris Phillips
Chris Phillips
Joined Exceptional care in February 2020. Chris has worked in the Children’s Health care sector for 17 years, gaining experience at a number of different setting ranging from Secure Mental Health units, Children’s CSE homes, EBD homes and Learning disability homes; firstly through agencies as a bank worker, then full time working for large providers throughout the North West.
Chris has set up two Children’s homes companies from scratch, the first in 2013 and the second in 2018. Chris was a Director and R.I at both companies.
Chris holds the Diploma 5 Qualification and has in the past, been a qualified trainer in physical interventions.
